Unification Thought is the thought of God, and holds to the purpose of reconciling warring nations and conflicting religions through the true love of God, the supreme center who is the origin of all religions.

As mentioned earlier, by this new view of value is meant an absolute view of value. Today’s value decline makes it urgent that a new view of value be established. It would be impossible, however, to prevent the phenomenon of the collapse of values by means of any relative view of value. Therefore, an absolute view of value must be established.

This absolute view of value must be established on the basis of a clarification of the kinds of attributes God, who is absolute, possesses, and for what purpose (purpose of creation) and through which laws (Logos) God created human beings and the universe.

God created we human beings as object partners of His love, seeking to obtain joy through loving us. In order to please us, He created all things as object partners of love for us. Absolute values are the values of truth, goodness, and beauty based on God’s absolute love, that is, absolute truth, absolute goodness, and absolute beauty. Thus, this new view of value is established on the basis of absolute love.

The unification of the views of value means the unification of the various standards for the judgment of value (especially the value of goodness), making it clear that all virtues are simply diverse expressions of absolute value, and that ultimately, all virtues exist in order to actualize absolute love.

Clearly, then, it would be erroneous to think of this new view of value as an entirely new system, established at the cost of denying traditional views of value as found in Christianity, Confucianism, Buddhism, Islam, and so on. Rather, this new view of value is established on the basis of traditional values. Since the foundations upon which traditional values stood are collapsing, we need to rebuild those foundations and revive and strengthen traditional values so that they are invested with new vitality and persuasive power. That is how we can establish a new view of value. Next, in order to explain the absoluteness of this new view of value, I will present the theological, philosophical, and historical grounds upon which it stands.

새로운 가치관이란, 이미 말한 바와 같이 절대적인 가치관을 의미한다. 가치관이 붕괴되어 가고 있는 오늘날에 와서 새로운 가치관의 정립은 무엇보다도 중요하나, 상대적 가치관을 가지고서 그 붕괴현상을 방지한다는 것은 거의 불가능하다. 즉 절대적 가치관이 아니면 안 된다.

절대적 가치관은 절대자인 하나님이 어떤 속성(屬性)을 갖고 있으며, 또 어떤 목적(創造目的)과 법칙(法則, 로고스)를 가지고 인간과 우주를 창조하셨는가 하는 것을 명백히 밝힌 기반 위에서만 세워지는 가치관이다.

하나님은 사랑을 통하여 기쁨을 얻고자 사랑의 대상으로 인간을 창조하셨다. 또 인간을 기쁘게 하기 위하여, 그 인간의 사랑의 대상으로서 만물을 창조하셨다. 절대적 가치(絶對的價値)란 이와 같은 하나님의 사랑(절대적 사랑)을 기반으로 하여 세워진 진(眞)·선(善)·미(美)의 가치, 즉 절대적인 진(眞), 절대적 선(善), 절대적 미(美)를 말한다. 새로운 가치관이란, 이와 같이 절대적인 사랑을 기반으로 해서 성립한다는 견해(見解)이다.

그런데 가치관의 통일이란 가치(특히 善의 가치)의 판단기준(判斷基準)을 일치시키는 것이다. 그러기 위해서는 모든 종교의 덕목(德目)이 절대적 가치의 여러 표현형태(表現形態)라는 것, 따라서 모든 덕목은 절대적 사랑을 실천하기 위해 존재한다는 사실을 명백히 할 필요가 있는 것이다.

이러한 관점에서 볼 때, 새로운 가치관(價値觀)은 종래의 기독교, 유교, 불교, 이슬람교 등의 가치관을 완전히 부정하고 새롭게 세우자는 것이 아니다. 종래의 가치관의 기반이 붕괴되었으므로, 다시는 붕괴되지 않는 확고한 것으로, 그리고 과거의 여러 가치관들을 다시 소생(蘇生)시킬 수 있는 것으로서 세워진 것이 새로운 가치관이다. 그런데 이러한 새로운 가치관이 그 절대성(絶對性)을 보증받기 위해서는 同가치관은 다음과 같은 신학적(神學的), 철학적(哲學的), 역사적(歷史的) 근거를 제시해야 한다.

Новий погляд на цінності, як уже зазначалося, означає абсолютний погляд на цінності. Сьогодні, коли цінності руйнуються, встановлення нового погляду на цінності набуває першорядного значення. Проте запобігти краху цінностей за допомогою відносного уявлення про цінності майже неможливо.

Іншими словами, потрібен абсолютний погляд на цінності, встановлений на основі з’ясування атрибутів Бога-Абсолюту, Його мети (мети творення) й законів (Логосу), якими Він керувався при створенні людства та Всесвіту.

Бог створив людину як об’єкт Своєї любові, щоб через любов отримати радість. Крім того, щоб дати радість людям, Бог створив усе суще як об’єкт любові людини. Під абсолютними цінностями розуміються цінності істини, добра і краси, які встановлені на основі такої Божої любові (абсолютної любові), тобто абсолютна істина, абсолютне добро та абсолютна краса. Отже, в основі нового погляду на цінності лежить абсолютна любов.

Об’єднання систем цінностей являє собою узгодження критеріїв оцінки цінностей (особливо такої цінності, як добро). Щоб це зробити, потрібно прояснити той факт, що чесноти всіх релігій — це різні форми вираження абсолютних цінностей, а отже, всі чесноти існують в ім’я здійснення абсолютної любові.

З цієї точки зору нове уявлення про цінності не означає встановлення нових цінностей шляхом заперечення традиційного уявлення про цінності християнства, конфуціанства, буддизму, ісламу тощо. Оскільки основа традиційних цінностей зруйнована, новий погляд на цінності встановлюється як щось тверде, що, по-перше, ніколи більше не зруйнується і, по-друге, дозволить відродити різноманітні цінності минулого. Однак для того, щоб цьому новому уявленню про цінності була гарантована його абсолютність, воно повинно мати наступні теологічні, філософські та історичні основи.
